Desk Front
This is a worktable/desk that I recently finished for a client. She is a fashion designer and needed something she could do multiple things on… sketch, cut fabric, trace patterns and so on. So, I designed and built this table for her.

It has a drawing surface on the left that raises up and a light box on the right.

  1. Hello Chris – got your link from Judi – nice work. I’ve done custom woodworking over 30 years including my own business back in the 80’s and I wish you the best. Because I am not producing commercially I don’t have a site showing my work, but if you get the chance check out the site / blog for my new book at My blog posts will soon have some pictures of furniture and architectural details of my work to describe how wooden handplanes were used at the time of the Revolution.

This is an amazing tool for your client and I’m sure she will create amazing designs on it. It’s really beautiful in its simplicity, Chris.

Love the table and the bike shelf! Amazing designs … congrats on the new baby as well.

  5. I am a designer as well and have to say that this is AMAZING! You basically hit on every different dream quality I’ve ever wanted. Actually I would only add one detail… a thin border of padded corkboard around the edge so you could pin down fabric while tracing a pattern. Love it!

  6. Wow…I’m blown away by this table! If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you charge for this?

Wow, this is beautiful! I am a patternmaker and dreamed of a table like this. I even tried to make one myself but lacked the skills/money to make anything this beautiful AND functional. One day…
